The story
Stories of strigoi gave traditional communities a language for fears surrounding the living, the dead and the boundaries of the household.
A closed door can be both a shelter and a symbol. Museum accounts of the traditional calendar record beliefs about strigoi, especially around Saint Andrew’s night. Such narratives belong to a varied world of local explanations and protective customs, rather than a single character with the fixed rules of a modern horror film.
