Detachable parachute cell
Anastase Dragomir and Tănase Dobrescu
The idea
Dragomir and Dobrescu patented a detachable seat-and-parachute system as an aircraft escape device.
A passenger’s seat and parachute were conceived as a separable assembly. Their French patent belongs to the early history of aircraft escape systems, rather than the complete invention of today’s rocket-powered ejection seat.
