Heat-attenuated rabies vaccine method
Victor Babeș
The idea
Babeș developed a method of weakening rabies virus by controlled heating for vaccination research.
The CDC describes an alternative to the drying and dilution methods used in early rabies-vaccine development. Known as the Romanian immunisation technique, Babeș’s contribution concerned a particular vaccine-preparation method; it does not make him the inventor of the first rabies vaccine.
