DACICC-1 computer
The Cluj Computing Institute team
The idea
DACICC-1 introduced transistors and ferrite-core internal memory into a Romanian-built electronic computer.
Designed in Cluj between 1959 and 1963, DACICC-1 combined vacuum tubes with transistor logic and ferrite memory. The institute credits a team initially led by Manfred Rosmann and later Gheorghe Farkas. Its history explicitly distinguishes this hybrid machine from a fully transistorized computer.
