Hyper CD-ROM · three-dimensional optical memory
Eugen Pavel
The idea
Pavel patented optical memory that records information within fluorescent glass, associated with his Hyper CD-ROM research.
Pavel’s patent describes fluorescent glass and three-dimensional optical recording, with priority from 1997 and a US grant in 2005. This is a separate storage concept, not the Sony/Philips CD-ROM format; the patent does not establish the extraordinary commercial capacities sometimes advertised for it.

A simplified principle to explore. This illustration is not a historical replica or a claim about storage capacity.
