Victor Toma and the IFA team
The idea
CIFA-1 entered operation in April 1957 at Romania’s Institute of Atomic Physics.
Building a computer meant assembling electronic circuits, memory and a programming practice together. Victor Toma’s first-person account records the commissioning of CIFA-1 in April 1957. The machine became an important starting point for the Romanian computer-building programme.
