Edeleanu patented a process combining selective solvent treatment with the cracking of high-boiling hydrocarbons.

US patent 1,661,565 describes removing unwanted constituents before pressure cracking. Granted in 1928, it documents a distinct development in Edeleanu’s work on turning heavy petroleum fractions into lighter products.
