The idea
Basgan’s later drilling patent used pressure variations in drilling fluid to generate vibrations.
US patent 3,507,341, granted in 1970, describes an updated rotary and percussive drilling system. Adjustable fluid-pressure variations transmit vibratory energy through the drilling system. It is a later patented development, distinct from his 1937 apparatus.
